One place to look is windows updates.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if any updates were installed on that date.

On the WIndows update page click on Advanced Options then Cull how updates are delivered.

On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the outset choice is turned on, the MS is using your figurer every bit a "mule" to evangelize updates to other people. That would account for network utilise.

Likewise bank check in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your system and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files there ("sloppy" considering there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

I exercise not run across the "Advanced Options" on the Windows Update History page. Is there another method to get to the Avant-garde Options?

Is  at that place a method to view what was downloaded on xi/16/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, nonetheless, I cannot discover information technology. I practise know that information technology occurred on 11/16/2017 betwixt 5:30 PM and vi:thirty PM.

Thank You lot,

Paulwayne

Hi, Paul, TCPIPView is prophylactic, I would not put y'all incorrect . . .

Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network activity should this sort of thing happen again . . .

As for what was downloaded on 11/sixteen/2017 between v:xxx PM and six:30 PM

In that location are ii possible means to find that out:

1.
Open up Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'

Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should become active
Click Appointment Modified drop downwardly and cull Today
Then click the blue text in the search box, a calendar will announced
Select the 16th and give it time to search - it can be a while

In the resulting search, you should be able to see what downloaded . . .

2.
Click your Start Push button, blazon Event Viewer and hitting Enter
This will open the Result Viewer app
On the left, click the arrow beside Windows logs to expand it
For each log, click it and coil down through the events to find that date and time
This might give you some clue as to what happened at that time and what was downloaded . . .

I cannot express my concern, as I had my identity stolen four times and acquired enormous problems.

Cheers Dave,

Sorry, misdirected you. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Status" page

Sorry, I practice not know of any way of identifying what was upwards or downloaded during a specific time. There are many utilities that can monitor you net use. The problem is that most of them focus on total book and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or plan that is doing the up/down loading.

http://www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is one exception I found in a QUICK search. It at to the lowest degree identifies the program doing the traffic.

You will have to do your own search to discover a better suited application to identify Hereafter traffic.

This commodity tells how to use built in tools to monitor network traffic, including application doing the work:

Hi Dave,

I used the result viewer to view my PC activity for xi/16/2017 between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. I see several alarm messages and fault messages. It appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'one thousand non sure.

Could I email yous a couple of screen shots of the event viewer and get your feedback? I really do non empathize what was occurring on 11/16/2017, but it did last for almost 2 hours and looks a bit suspicious to me. I do not run into a way to attach screen shots on this community web site, perhaps I can reply back with the text?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks Dave,

Paul

Hello Paul, sorry i had to get some slumber . . .

Tin can you do one matter for me:
Click your Offset Button, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, take a note of what version No. of Windows 10 you lot are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)

Due to the amount of data that has been downloaded, I am guess it was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are not running 1709, so that is the virtually likely scenario . . .

Of yous desire to postal service screenshots y'all can do that here or upload them to the cloud (DropBox,OneDrive . . .etc.) and post a link here and I will have a look for you . . .
